Lazara OZA 2 months agoMr. James R, the shift supervisor, provides exceptional customer service every time!! I always enjoy coming in and having him as my cashier!! He is very informative regarding store developments, specials, and promotional coupons. Sam, the manager, keeps the store well-stocked and organized. He has actually been very responsive to my requests, ensuring adequate inventory of certain items. Having traveled quite extensively and being originally from New York City, I have patronized CVS throughout the country and can say that the customer service and shopping experience here are truly outstanding!!
Angela Angela 2 weeks agoThe 645 Market St store is the WORST CVS front store among three in the Downtown San Diego area. Many workers there are lazy, hostile, & whiny, as many previous reviews would attest. They leave the register unmanned for up to 15 minutes while customers wait to be checked out and when someone is at the register, they pressure customers to the self-service checkout even when the customers chose to get in line at the register to get help. My opinion of this store was cemented when on June 16, Sam, the manager, told me that I am no longer allowed to return items despite having bought FAR MORE items at this store for MANY, MANY YEARS than the 1 item I return now and then, refill my prescriptions at CVS, and printed on the e-receipt: "Need to return a store item? NO PROBLEM." CVS, like most retail stores, already has a system in place to track returns based on empirical evidence, but James and Sam felt the need to impose store- and customer-specific, & also frankly, biased policy based only on anecdotal evidence that overrides corporate policy. The staff here only wants to watch customers at the self-checkout kiosks do all the checkout work while they stand to look on that is why they cannot be bothered to process returns. Also, James is all-smiles when I pick up my online orders of 8-10 items at a time but he had to call Sam when I made a 1-item return on June 16, presumably so Sam could tell me that I will not be allowed to make returns again. Boo! These two are like high school bullies. To make matters worse, James left the register to scour for Sam for 2-3 minutes, on top of a 6-8 minute wait in line, even though there were 2-3 people behind me, when he could just have processed my return in less than a minute so he could have let me leave & immediately attended to the customers waiting in line. The priority of these two workers are simply out of whack! After making my 1-item return, I was also going to pick up a 8-10- item online order, which I instead canceled because of the made-up policy Sam & James imposed on me. A simple cost-benefit analysis of those two lecturing me on my returns: NEGATIVE IMPACT on CVS revenue! Also, everytime I come to this store to pick up an online order, James asks me to recite the last 4 digits, instead of checking the invoice I had prepared to display on my phone screen, of my online order number when he clearly knows who I am already since I have picked up MANY orders from him with the same name EVERYTIME & also after flagging my returns, which just exhibits that James does not give a damn about customers. Here are a few reasons I make returns: 1. When making an online order, CVS cancels items that are not available in store. If that happens, I will not get applicable rewards and the manufacturer coupon will not be applied if the item that was canceled must be purchased with another item to get the reward and use a coupon. 2. Understandably, the workers at this store make mistakes with online orders but if they cannot be perfect everytime in preparing online orders they should not be lecturing anybody on returns. In one recent order, I got soft toothbrushes instead of the medium ones I ordered. At other times, a different scent of a body wash or coffee flavor was in my pick-up order. 3. There were times when I shopped in-store when there was a glitch in the system or the labels in-store were dated that I did not get the expected rewards or that a coupon had not been properly applied. 4. Most of the toiletries at this store are locked up in shelves which makes in-store shopping for multiple items time-consuming. It necessarily follows that when someone places online orders and not able to smell or check out an item at the store, the probability of return would be higher. 5. If Sam and James think I return frequently, that is precisely because I have shopped a lot of items at the Market St store for MANY YEARS. Sam has been manager at this store for far too long, it is time for his retraining and change. He should be rotated to another store, like most other CVS managers.
Bryan Frasca a month agoWatched this girl get insulted on the line in front of me. She was just trying to check out and the man brought up “education” in front of her face to make her feel bad for a simple system issue. The lady in the front (the security guard) also kept making her feel bad for checking out one single item before close, and also laughed with the cashier who made said comment about the customer. Awful staff, strange prices, and just overall an uncomfortable experience!!
Lorenzo Warfel 2 years agoCONVENIENT w/ PLENTY OF TRAVEL ITEMS! If you’re visiting Downtown or live close by, this CVS is very helpful! It’s in a centralized location and isn’t too far from the Gaslamp hub and Petco Park. My family and I stopped in to get some quick supplies before a game and we were in-and-out. It’s surprisingly quiet for a CVS in the middle of a busy metropolitan area. I’m cool with it haha. There’s beach wear, snacks, make-up, travel packs, and plenty of alcohol. The pharmacy wasn’t busy at all and it was a Sunday morning! The security guy was kind of disenchanted with his job but he was cool, he let us come in with some coffee we had just purchased nearby. I’d highly recommend this CVS, it’s pretty up to date and put together.
David Simpson 9 months agoI don't normally shop here because they are expensive but I came here for vaccine shot. Came in early and left early. They were super fast in the pharmacy department
