I dread going to the pharmacy here every month. Every month, it’s a litany of misery to pick up my prescription. Long waits just to get to the counter due to understaffing (typical to have it be 30 minutes), and then sometimes over an hour for processing on the back end (for a prescription that was ostensibly ready) If you call on the phone, they may literally never pick up. Once I was on hold for an hour so drove to the pharmacy, to find there was no line - but they were just letting the phones stay on hold endlessly. It’s normal to see a whole line of frustrated customers. Miserable staff. And no solutions. Walgreens corporate doesn’t care. This is one of the few pharmacies in the neighborhood, so they have market capture. No incentive for corporate to fix. The staff do try, but they are SO clearly burned out. And for now, avoid if you can - and hopefully, central Walgreens will try to make the CX better. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

They handle sharps container exchanges with no fuss and offered extra free containers with no issues. Efficient team with two pharmacy techs at the window.

Walgreens on the corner of California and Spruce in San Francisco is my local store. I am always delighted to see Sara at the check out! I feel a sense of community that is so nourishing living in a big city.

Pharmacy always have a huge line, typically 6-12 people long and it takes FOREVER for the line to move. I’d say average wait per customer served is easily 5mins. Nearly every trip takes 30 mins just to get through the line. Get it together and hire more staff!!!

I went in to pick a script for pregnancy nausea, something I’m sure is incredibly common for Walgreens across America. One of the meds is over the counter sold on the shelves, but the dosage was 10x higher than a pregnant person requires. I asked the pharmacist if to place it and the second they heard what it was, I was told to check the aisles or order from Amazon… hmm what did people do back in the day before Amazon? Oh right the pharmacy actually would use a script to order the correct meds someone needs! This is the second time I’ve been in this location and both times the customer service has been crap so I will not be back.
